About this recipe
Virgin Mojito is a non-alcholic version of famous cocktail Mojito drink which is an alcohol based drink made of mint leaves, lemon juice and sweetener.
With Virgin Mojito the base ingredients - mint leaves and lime juice remain the same but the alcohol gets replaced with a bubbling drink like club soda, sprite , ginger ale or simply sparkling water.
The combination of tangy lime, mild sweetness and mint fresshness altogether makes this a favourite refreshing drink among many . If you haven't tried this drink yet you are surely missing out.
This recipe is
- Quick and Simple
- Needs basic ingredients
Let's see how to make this easy and refreshing virgin mojito recipe with different flavours at home.
To make Virgin Mojito , you just need some basic and handful ingredients like lime juice, lemon slices , fresh mint leaves , sweetner ( sugar syrup ) of your choice , lots of ice and any bubbling drink like Club soda, Sprite , Ginger Ale or simply sparkling water.
As I'm adding variations ( flavours) to the same recipe , for 2 different flavours im using black grapes and strawberries. But you can use any fruit flavours of your choice .
Lime - You can either use lime slices or lemon in this recipe, It's taste almost same. Always choose juice lime and thinly slice it , as it makes easy to muddle and helps to release juices easily.
Fresh mint leaves - Use freshly plucked mint leaves because it adds tons of flovor and freshness to the drink. If it's not fresh you may need to add little more for it to release juice when muddled.
Sweetner - I have used powdered sugar , but you can make a simple demerara sugar syrup and use in this recipe . You can also use maple syrup or honey as sweetner in this recipe, it's tottally upto one's choice.
Salt - Though optional , I use just a pinch because it helps to pop out other flavours in the recipe. Here salt acts a taste enhancer.
Lime Juice - Squeeze fresh lime juice here because it s a game changer in this recipe . Though store brought lemonade and other alternatives can be used , it doesn't give the same refreshing taste as fresh juice.
Any Bubbling Water - I have used Club Soda but you can use Sprite , Ginger Ale or Sparkling water as required.
Ice Cubes - Either ice cubes or crushed ice can be used in this recipe.
For Flavour Variations - I have used 2 different flavours , Strawberry and black grapes here. I prefer using fresh fruits here because, when muddled the juice released along with mint leaves enhances the flavour. If you wish you can use fresh juice direclty also . You can use any other fruits like orange , sweet lime , watermelon, blueberry and mango to make flavoured Virgin Mojito's.
